Elon Musk Asks US Court to Block OpenAI's For-Profit Conversion šŸ”„

Elon Musk is ramping up his legal battle against OpenAI, the AI company he helped co-found.

Details:

  • Musk’s attorneys have filed a preliminary injunction to stop OpenAI’s transition to a fully for-profit model, claiming the move violates its original nonprofit mission.

  • The motion also accuses OpenAI, its co-founders, and investor Microsoft of engaging in anticompetitive practices that harm rivals, including discouraging investment in competitors like Musk's xAI and benefiting from sensitive information through Microsoft connections.

  • Musk alleges he was defrauded of over $44 million in donations to OpenAI and warns of ā€œirreparable harmā€ if the injunction isn’t granted.

OpenAI, founded in 2015 as a nonprofit, adopted a ā€œcapped-profitā€ model in 2019 and is now transitioning to a fully for-profit company.

Guide to Using Apple Intelligence's 'Image Playground'

Install iOS 18.2 and enable Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence launched with iOS 18.1, and Image Playground is in beta with iOS 18.2.

Install the iOS 18.2 public beta via Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, then enable Apple Intelligence in Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri.

*Note: You’ll need an iPhone, Mac or iPad with an M-series chip, an A17 Pro chip or greater to use the app.

  1. Get on the Image Playground waitlist

To use Image Playground, Genmoji, and other AI features, join the waitlist via Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Image Creation > Request Early Access.

Approval may take a few hours or several days.

  1. Launch Image Playground and pick a starting image

You’ll see the Playground app on your iPhone’s Home Screen. Open it and tap the + button to start.

There are four ways to create AI images in Image Playground:

  • Describe an Image: Enter a text prompt to generate an image.

  • Choose a Person: Select a tagged photo from ā€œPeople and Petsā€ in your Photos library or use the Appearance button to create a person from scratch.

  • Choose Style or Photo: Tap the + icon at the bottom right and select Choose Photo to pick an image from your library as a starting point.

  • Suggestion Bubbles: Tap any of the suggestion bubbles at the bottom of the screen. Use these for inspiration or refining your image.

  1. Edit your image and add more details

Image Playground generates four variations for each starting prompt, with more options available by swiping.

If you’re not happy with the results, you can adjust the image further. Tap the square image preview to return and edit the prompts.

Once satisfied, tap Done to save your image. You can share, delete, or edit it later.
