Apple Intelligence Now Available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac 📱

Today marks a big moment for Apple as it rolls out Apple Intelligence on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. It's Apple's first official entry into the AI field, but it's just the beginning of what's to come.

Details:

  • This initial release includes AI-powered writing tools, smarter notifications, and a photo cleanup option.

  • Siri has a new look and can now take text input by double-tapping, but its most significant new features — like the ability to perform actions directly within apps — probably won’t be available until well into 2025.

  • Apple Intelligence is still labeled as “beta,” and users must join a waitlist to try it. It requires recent Apple hardware, primarily M-series chips and the latest iPhones and iPads.

  • It will launch first in US English and expand to more languages next year. In December, it will become available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.

More features are expected in December, including ChatGPT integration in Siri and AI camera updates, but this first wave of AI features is sure to help Apple catch up to other big players like Google and Samsung.

Universal Music Group Partners with Klay Vision for Ethical AI Music 🎵

Universal Music Group (UMG) has announced a new partnership with Klay Vision, an AI company focused on creating an "ethical" music generator.

Details:

  • UMG and Klay Vision are developing a "Large Music Model" called KLayMM, which aims to generate music ethically while respecting copyright laws and artists' rights.

  • The model is designed to work alongside the music industry and its creators, aiming to integrate AI into music without overshadowing human artists.

  • Klay Vision's founder, Ary Attie, envisions a future where AI plays a significant role in music creation, suggesting that "the next Beatles will play with KLAY".

  • They claim they are developing a global platform for AI-driven music experiences that ensures accurate attribution and does not compete with artists’ catalogs in traditional music services.

The new partnership comes as UMG is engaged in lawsuits against AI music generator sites and Anthropic.

How to get Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Apple Intelligence works with the latest iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Before enabling it, double-check that you own a compatible device.

  1. Update to the latest software

First, you’ll need to update to iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 or macOS Sequoia 15.1.

→ On iPhone or iPad, simply open Settings, go to General, and tap Software Update. For Mac users, click the Apple logo in the Menu Bar, select System Settings, and then click Software Update.

  1. Get Apple Intelligence on iPhone or iPad

Open Settings and navigate to Apple Intelligence & Siri. Then, toggle on Apple Intelligence. You'll be added to the waitlist, and your iPhone or iPad will notify you when it's ready to use.

  1. Get Apple Intelligence on Mac

Click System Settings and navigate to Apple Intelligence & Siri. Then, click Turn on Apple Intelligence. You'll be added to the waitlist, and your Mac will notify you when it’s ready to use.
